Successful implementation of Real-Time Technologies requires expertise. We have implemented over 100 real-time technology projects and manage multiple live sites.
RTLS Health can provide an on-site or remote System Administrator to keep your RTLS software up to date. We help with the standardization of the RTLS (Real Time Location System) software. The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining the software setup, acting as a first line of defense in mitigating any system issues impacting the performance of the RTLS solution as well as standardize naming conventions, establish and maintain the appropriate level of escalation for alerts, and report out predefined and agreed upon system metrics. The System Administrator can be an onsite embedded resource or a remote resource. The System administrator will maintain and update the software as needed for multiple locations and assets. In addition, the system administrator will deliver reports to the customer on usage and advise on opportunities for customer to get more value out of their RTLS investment.
We monitor your tags and proactively replace tags with dying batteries. This consists of taking a battery from the spare pool, finding the asset, replacing the dying tag, updating the software with the new tag and associated asset and ensuring it now shows healthy and on the software map.
Replace the battery in the old tag and reset the battery counter in the software and return to the spare pool. We include the cost of the new battery in our service.
Environmental tags also require battery management even when they have a power supply plug-in. In this case, the battery provides the back up power if the electricity goes out. This way the tag can continue to monitor and report temperatures once the power and network return.
RTLS Healthcare Solutions proactively manages these batteries similar to the way described for assets.
Many medicines and vaccines requiring temperature monitoring also require the monitoring device to have a current NIST certification. Typically this is required every 12 -24 months. RTLS Healthcare Solutions will manage those expirations by certifying them On-Site. In addition, when the tag is certified we will upload the NIST certification in the software to be viewed by anyone needing access.
Wearable tags require the same battery management as the other tags however, the process is different. Typically, we coordinate with the shift manager for the department and swap tags for personnel which requires getting the replacement tag setup in the software correctly to ensure continuous coverage. RTLS Healthcare Solutions Group will help you set up your steering committees for each use case according to best practices. The steering group defines the goals, agrees on who is responsible and accountable for each component and measures results as part of an ongoing working group. We can provide a roadmap to set up the committee, set the initial agenda and provide a written template to use as a guide as you customize your program to fit your needs. Give us a call to help you get started.
It is also important to recognize that creating value from Real-Time Technology projects extends far beyond the actual IT implementation phase and requires a commitment to the long-term business strategy. Organizational alignment, improvement of business processes, and driving performance are critical objectives following the initial deployment phase, and they need to be reassessed over time.
Our consultants can help you to evaluate how your Asset Management system and processes are performing and are you achieving what you thought you would. If not, we can help you fix that. We will collect the data from your system and find the reasons for poor performance. We can compare your data to best in class for a reliable comparison and guide you through a recommended plan of action. You will receive detailed support from our healthcare RTLS operations experts, who will be sharing with you best practices gained by implementing and managing multiple real-time technology projects.
Often Alerts are not understood or coordinated among different departments. The result is your system is loaded with hundreds of redundant, sub optimized alerts which bogs the system down and can actually cause a crash. A large system typically has about 100 alerts. If you have more than that you need to have an audit done to clean up the system.
RTLS Healthcare Solutions can assist you with managing your alerts and ensure the proper actions and documentation are being adhered to. For example, if you deploy an automated temperature monitoring system, we can make sure that the proper person receives the out-of-range temperature alert and takes a corrective action in a timely manner. Are corrective actions to alerts being logged properly? We can help you ensure they are. This process will provide you with peace of mind that alerts are generated by your Temperature system they are being acted upon, increasing your organization’s safety and compliance.

Use RTLS data to gather information about patient visits (total duration, % of time in contact with staff, wait time in wait area, wait time in exam room, etc.) and review the factors that had the most impact on the patient’s experience, this of course can have an impact on HCAHPS scores.
Leverage automatically collected data from Real-Time Systems identify bottlenecks and improve facility layout and workflow design
